Rampart’s Walk

One of the most unique Jerusalem activities for families is to walk across the walls of the Old City. The views are incredible and you get a different perspective of the city.

The walkways above the walls are known as the Rampart’s Walk. Each side takes about an hour and a half to complete.

Northern Ramparts Walk

3km (1.86 miles) Jaffa Gate to Lions Gate. With views of the Christian and Muslim Quarters and the Mount of Olives. You will also see the Temple Mount, Santa Ana Crusader Church, A-Sahara neighborhood, Rockefeller Museum, Mount Scopus and the Kidron (Jehoshaphat) Valley.

  • The new gate (from the Jaffa Gate – approx. 20 minutes’ walk)
  • Damascus Gate (from the Jaffa Gate – approx. 20 minutes’ walk
  • The Flower Gate (from the Jaffa Gate – approx. 20 minutes’ walk)
  • Lions’ Gate (from the Jaffa Gate – approx. 20 minutes’ walk)

Southern Ramparts Walk

From Jaffa Gate to the Western Wall. With views of the Armenian Quarter and Jewish Quarter.

Tickets

Ticket are valid for both walks for two days.

Box offices at Cannon Plaza (behind the Tower of David, to the right of Jaffa Gate square); on the left  side after entering Jaffa Gate; or at Roman Square.

The site is managed by PAMI – The East Jerusalem Development Fund.
