A classic Jerusalem festival for the whole family with a new twist in its 28th year.

The Train Theater located in Liberty Bell Park and a secret gem in the center of the city, hosts an annual International Puppet Festival starting August 18 till 22. This year with the guidance of their new CEO, Yizhar Floresheim and the artistic director Shahar Marom, the festival will be even more entertaining than in the past.

Not only will there be puppet theater for children and adults but this year the entire Gan Hapaamon Park will be turned into a village of fairies and elves with activities throughout the day.

The festival includes dozens of shows and performances from Israel and abroad: daily shows for children and the whole family including a show tailored for the religious and orthodox audience, a special and relaxed show for children on the autistic continuum, evening performances for adults, live music, food trucks, free outdoor artistic performances and lots of activities throughout the day.

During the day there will be free workshops, bubbles, circus shows and more. In partnership with the Youth Authority and Sports Department at Jerusalem Municipality – there will also be water games and sports. In the afternoon, the Village of Fairies and Elves will open (for a charge) run by 20 artists who will create a legendary and playful village and there will be arts and craft activities for parents and children.

The daily free activities and small charge for the village are an important addition to the festival thanks to the new CEO Yizhar, who feels it’s important to make the entertainment accessible to the community.

Throughout the festival there will be Kosher Food trucks with reasonably priced food and at night the park will change vibes with a DJ and Open Bar for adults.

The Train Theater will be moving into a brand new theater in the Center of Gan Hapaamon within the year – expect more great things from this unique theater.

So plan a family outing to the festival and enjoy the daily events and afternoon shows.

Who knew that puppets could be entertaining for all ages!
