Summer at the Bible Lands Museum

Summer Grains – Children’s Activity (ages 5-10)

What did humans first use wheat for – bread or beer?

Discover the answer on a journey uncovering the secrets of wheat grains from the ground to the museum galleries, from ancient times to today. Hear wheat stories from all the lands of the Bible, play wheat and barley games, prepare a ‘grain mummy’, and discover the connections between the festival of Osiris (the Egyptian god of eternal life and agriculture), Dagan (Dagon, the Ugaritic god of agriculture), and the celebrations of the three pilgrimage festivals in the Temple in Jerusalem.

Daily Guided tours

Guides will take you on a journey through the kingdoms, people and gods of the ancient Near East, and open a window into the lives of the men and women who lived in the region, and formed the base for the cultures we know today. A fascinating journey to ancient Canaan, Babylon, Greece, Egypt, Rome and Jerusalem.
