Yom Yerushalayim @ Ammunition Hill

Ammunition Hill is hosting special tours and exciting encounters throughout the week of Yom Yerushalayim, celebrating 59 years since the liberation of Jerusalem.

Track 1: Mount Scopus

Join a tour of the Mount Scopus range. The story of the King of the Mountain, his boys and the Matzof unit – a unit that was a top secret and protected Jerusalem, which was divided. At the Mount Scopus observation point you’ll see the paratroopers’ route of advance towards the liberation of the Old City. From there tour of the university, visit the Botanical Garden and Nikanor’s Cave.

Track 2: To the Communication Channel on Mount Zion

For years, the summit of Mount Zion was the closest observation point to the Temple Mount, touching the Temple Mount, the Western Wall, and the city walls. IDF fighters from Dor M’Zion faced the legionnaires above the walls, and anyone approaching the mountain risked being shot by a Jordanian sniper. Due to the danger, a secret communication channel was dug to transport fighters and equipment to the mountain, a channel that has been opened to visitors in recent years.

Track 3: Abu Tor

A tour in honor of the fighters of the Jerusalem Brigade Following the seam line that tore the city apart from 1918 to 1927.  A tour of Abu Tor following life on the border. Learn about the snipers and the “madman on duty”, the no-man’s land and the UN headquarters, following the route of the battles during the Six-Day War. End with a visit to the monument in memory of the fallen fighters.
