In honor of Hanukkah, the University Botanical Garden in Givat Ram in Jerusalem invites parents and children and the whole family to embark on a journey of exploration, discovery and creation in the art exhibition “Seeing the Invisible”.
“Seeing the Invisible” the first-of-its-kind and largest exhibition of contemporary art works, created using augmented reality technology. Thirteen different Israeli and international artists have joined forces to form this unique exhibition, which will open simultaneously in 12 botanical gardens around the world.
The works will be viewed via a dedicated App which visitors download to their cell or ipad, while wondering through the beautiful botanical gardens. Most of the works are large, and relate to nature, the environment and sustainability.
The exhibit, which runs through to August 2022, fuses together of the physical and digital worlds. It is an initiative of the Jerusalem Botanical Garden and the Outest Fund, with the support of the Jerusalem Foundation.
Kids Activities & Workshops
Alongside the exhibition, there will be a variety of activities for children every day during Hanukkah: the tours in the exhibition are accompanied by an interactive booklet on ecology and the environment.
- Become artists and sculpt one piece from the exhibition into a real clay sculpture.
- Make flower pots from recycled paper and sow wildflowers from the garden’s seed collection that they can take home and add “new layer to reality”.
- Children are invited to draw on a slide and place it in the corners of the garden just like the artists in the exhibition.
