“Broken Prayer” celebrates Leonard Cohen’s collection of songs that focus on his ongoing conversation with the Creator. It is part of the Melodies and Miracles music festival at the Aspaklaria Theater in First Station.
With songs from all of Cohen’s creative periods, the show beautifully weaves together all of his music and gently intertwines them to the mystical words of piyutim, celebrating the melody and inspiration of the ancient texts and their profound influence on Leonard Cohen’s works.
The pivotal moment in the show is the performance of Cohen’s iconic Hallelujah, which has audiences lifting their hands in thanks-giving to the Creator, as if in the closing moments of the Neillah prayer, seconds before the gates of Heaven close.
The show is being held in line with the latest Ministry of Health guidelines and under the Green Pass system.
