Jerusalem Arts Festival

Now in it’s 19th year!

The Jerusalem Arts Festival is one of the most unique festivals in Jerusalem. 5 days, 35 shows in 12 locations.

There’s a rich program of theater, music, art and dance performances for all the family.

Children’s Shows

The Hedgehog’s Light – Fable Theater:  Monday, May 30, 5pm @ Beit HaKerem Library
Hedgehog is afraid of the dark and does not go hunting with his family. In a brave and surprising rescue mission, he overcomes his fears and goes saves his friends. A magical and educational children’s play based on the book by the writer and playwright Margalit Ashosh.

The Lion in the Suitcase – Suitcase Theater: Monday, May 30, 5pm @ Kiriyat Yovel Library
What would you do if a lion suddenly appeared in your library? Hide between shelves? Call for help? Freeze? And how would the lion react to you? A surprising and heartwarming story about rules of conduct in the library and in life and the good reasons to break them… sometimes. A beautiful adaptation of the book “A Lion in the Library” by Michelle Kenodson and Kevin Hokes.

The Ant & The Cricket – City Theater for Children & Youth: Tuesday, May 31, 5pm @ Ramot Library

Nelly the ant is careful and frugal. Every year she gathers food and prepares for the approaching winter and dreams of one day winning the “Beautiful Garden” competition. One day a lazy and cheerful cricket named Spring moves into her birth. The two have a hard time getting along, especially after a spring gets dirty and destroys Nelly’s beautiful garden. Despite their differences, beautiful friendships are slowly formed between them and they learn to enjoy each other’s company.

Little Red Riding Hood – Bayam Bam Boom Theater Company: Wednesday, June 1, 5pm @ Baka Library
A wonderful adaptation of the children’s classic fairytale “Little Red Riding Hood”.  Why was she called that? Because everything she wore was red. When her mother asked her to bring groceries to her sick grandmother, she warned her not to take a short cut. But what happened when Little Red Riding Hood met the wolf in the forest?

Pinocchio – Israeli Hour Theater Company: Wednesday, June 1, 5pm, @ Pisgat Ze’ev Library

A beautiful adaptation of the children’s classic Pinocchio. Geppetto is a kind-hearted carpenter who makes wooden toys. He carves a doll and calls it “Pinocchio”.

Riot on Stage – Meditech Theater: Thursday, June 2, 5pm @ Katamon Library
What happens when an actor does not come to the show and the actress is left alone with the stage worker. The audience is already in the hall, everyone is waiting – but the show can not be started. With the help of the audience is the show staged? Find out in “Riot on Stage”.
