At Fun In Jerusalem we love to share new activities and new shops with our readers, which is why we decided to write a post about Accents.
If you’re looking to support a local shop and find gifts in Israel that are unique, classy, and built to last, there’s a new store you’ll want to know about: **Accents**. This boutique shop specializes in housewares and elegant gifts — perfect for Shabbat tables, weddings, holidays, or just because.
We sat down with the owner of Accents before Rosh Hashana to hear how this Jerusalem gem got started and what makes it different.
Q&A with the Owner of Accents
Q: How did Accents begin?
A: We opened just before Purim about two and a half years ago. My wife and I always loved home décor and tableware — the things that make your Shabbat or Yom Tov table look beautiful. Whenever we traveled abroad, we’d find ourselves in the home sections of Macy’s or other big stores. We weren’t interested in clothing or perfume — we were always looking for quality pieces for the home. Eventually, we realized that Jerusalem didn’t really have enough stores offering that kind of selection, so we decided to open one ourselves.
Q: Why the name “Accents”?
A: Because that’s exactly what we believe in. Just a few accents — a flower arrangement, a stylish serving bowl, a challah board — can completely uplift a home and a table. You don’t have to redo your whole dining room. A few accents make everything feel more elegant.
Q: What kind of products do you carry?
A: We carry a wide range — from affordable to high-end. In Israel you usually have two extremes: very cheap, or very expensive silver. We wanted to create a middle ground. You can find a stainless steel salad bowl, a gorgeous vase, or an elegant cake dish at a price that feels right. We stock brands like **Alessi** (Italian) and **Robert Welch** (English), alongside other unique international designs.
Make sure to see our Gift Packages which can be delivered in Jerusalem with fresh cakes, honey, chocolates and cookies – which makes a gift from Accents both beautiful and tasty.
Q: What makes Accents different from other stores in Jerusalem?
A: Service. We understand the American mentality because I grew up between Har Nof, New York, and Sydney, and my wife is Australian. Most of our customers are English speakers — either living in Israel or abroad. Parents in the US often send gifts through us to their kids living here. We speak the language, we understand what they want, and we wrap beautifully. We deliver anywhere in Israel for just 35 NIS (free on orders over 400 NIS). That’s unusual — most shops only deliver within Jerusalem.
Our commitment to service means that you can reach us by email, phone or whatsapp. Whatever is best for you.
Q: What are some of your most popular gifts?
A: Salad bowls with matching servers are always popular, as are our cake dishes with knives. For weddings, our challah boards with knives and salt shakers are a big hit. Before each Yom Tov, we also create special gift packs — like honey dishes for Rosh Hashanah, or matzah trays before Pesach.
Q: Why gifts?
A: Because we love them. We love giving, we love wrapping, and we love seeing people happy when they receive something special. Food baskets are nice, but they’re gone in a few days. We want to give gifts that last — beautiful, high-quality pieces people can enjoy for years.
