Jewelry of Hope – Yvel Design Center
As we prepare for Hanukkah, this beautiful story perfectly captures the unbreakable Israeli spirit —where art, Zionism, and human hope unite. At Fun In Jerusalem, we absolutely love sharing this, and we hope it convinces you to come check out the factory tour for yourself!
Yvel Jewlery Design Center in Motsa, just outside Jerusalem, is an international jewelry house renowned for its exquisite & unique jewelry, using rare pearls and precious stones. But owners Issac & Orna Levy behind the Yvel brand are the true gems. Their deep commitment to Israel and its people is showcased at their philanthropic school, Megemeria (meaning ‘Genesis’ in Amharic), which started by training Ethiopian immigrants and has now opened a vital new course for October 7th survivors.
Megemeria
Founded in 2010, the Megemeria school was originally established to provide professional training and dignified employment for new immigrants, especially those from the Ethiopian community. The school helps these immigrants begin a new chapter of opportunity, craftsmanship, and hope in Israel. Now, in a year marking Yvel’s 40th anniversary, they have extended this vital social impact to support those whose lives have been profoundly affected by recent events in Israel.
Nova Survivors & IDF Reservists at Yvel – pathway to healing
Yvel has bravely opened a new and unique class dedicated to individuals coping with trauma, including Nova survivors, IDF reservists, and others affected by the events of October 7th. This program is not just about learning a skill; it’s about providing a therapeutic pathway to healing and renewal. Yvel believes the mindful work of jewelry making is a healing tool for the mind and body. The calming energy of natural gemstones and the hands-on process, which demands focus, patience, and precision, offers participants a way to find inner quiet and a restored sense of self. This new chapter is dedicated to those seeking to rebuild their lives with strength, dignity, and hope.
When you visit Jerusalem, we highly recommend booking a tour at the Yvel Design Center and the Ethiopian Craft Center. Your visit not only gives you a fascinating glimpse into the world of luxury design but also directly supports the ongoing work of the Megemeria school and its new mission of hope.
This Hanukkah season, Yvel is truly embodying the spirit of hope and renewal, and they are inviting tourists to come and be part of this new chapter in Israeli history.
