The Cave of Zedekiah, the Cave of the Kings, is hosting a one-time chess tournament by the Yero-Chess Club!
The tournament features Israeli youth champions, including participants aged 90+, alongside outstanding youth and 6-year-old children studying in the Next Champion/Next Champion program, who will likely beat any amateur who comes to participate or watch.
The cave, which is actually a quarry containing finds from the First Temple period onwards and is named after King Zedekiah, currently serves as a unique cultural and events site. For the first time ever, it will host this special competition of the Game of Kings!
According to tradition, King Zedekiah, the last king of Judah, escaped the city via this cave. Today, it features an audio-visual show that transforms it into a living cinema, evoking its ancient wonders. Private and public events are held there, as well as the occasional musical performance.
