Volunteering with Afikim

Be a part of helping impoverished youth receive hot meals, tutoring and counseling in Jerusalem.

Afikim services 500 impoverished youth via its 14 learning centers throughout Israel.

The organization was created to address the enormous child poverty crisis in Israel. Families are kept intact rather than going to foster care. This is accomplished by providing hot meals, tutoring, counseling and unique programs, ensuring that youth are given the tools to become successful members of Israeli society.

Afikim appreciates volunteers of all ages from 12 – 120  for short/long term. Volunteers help with ongoing programs, or lead special programs (music, art, yoga, sports, games, gardening…) , serve as tutors on all levels, English speaking/reading group.

Tween and teen role models provide a safe and comfortable environment for younger Afikim children. American youth groups can partner with an Afikim class to complete special projects– making holiday cards, sharing children’s stories or creating videos — throughout the year.American teens who travel to Israel can volunteer at Afikim and qualify for community service hours in United States schools.
