I Accidentally Wrote A Book (Hungarian with Hebrew subtitles) – Jan 3 @ 11am
Nina loves to make up stories and dreams of becoming a writer. She inherited her creative talent from her filmmaker father, but there’s one problem: her little brother, the amateur magician Junior, is already bored with her stories. Since her mother died when she was young, Nina has struggled to cope with the arrival of a new love in her father’s life. With the help of her neighbor, a bohemian writer, Nina learns to use writing to process the loss of her mother, to open her heart to her changing family – and to her first love. And before she knows it – her life is turning into a book!
Arco (French, with English & Hebrew subtitles) – Jan 10 @ 11am
Arko is a ten-year-old boy who travels through time from a distant utopian future where people live in the sky and grow plants, to a near alienated future run by robots who play the role of parents and educators. Arco meets Iris who tries to help him return home. Along the way he discovers a brave friendship that transcends time and the importance of family. A film that succeeds in an extraordinary way, presenting social philosophical ideas and carrying them on a stylish, comic and masterful fantasy until a powerful, tear-jerking ending. (Winner of the Best Film Award at the Annecy Festival)
Shlomi Steiner Yosef, animation and video artist on how a fantastic future in a science fiction film is connected to the present and what is happening now. And how imagination can affect reality.
