This Tisha B’Av evening, The Herodium National Park will be open for a special Eicha Megillah reading and guided tours of the site with experts from Kfar Etzion Field School.
The Herodium is a great example of the challenges faced by Jewish society under Roman rule, which was marked by luxury and excess, leading to rebellion and destruction. Later, during the Destruction and Bar Kochba rebellions, rebels lived here again, trying to shake off foreign control and hoping to rebuild the Temple. The remnants of the rebels’ activities at Herodium are clearly visible and continue to be uncovered even today.
The event is in collaboration with Israel Nature and Parks Authority, Gush Etzion Regional Council, Kfar Etzion Field School and Gush Etzion Tourism
