The Nili and David Jerusalem Bird Observatory is one of the most important stopover sites for migrating songbirds in the middle of the city. In the fall, it provides much needed food and water for thousands of little birds who are making the long journey from Europe to Africa on their fall migration.
They invite you and your family to unique experiences in the heart of the city, right next to the Knesset.
Bird Ringing Demonstrations – meet the stars of migration! (IN HEBREW)
From October 3–12, join us for a fascinating encounter with migrating birds. Watch up-close as delicate birds are ringed, learn about their incredible journeys across continents, and experience vibrant, living nature for all ages.
Night Safari Tours (IN HEBREW)
Embark on a magical journey after dark and discover the wildlife that awakens when the sun goes down. Hear the calls of owls, look for bats, and enjoy an extraordinary encounter with nature that you simply can’t see during the day. A family adventure to remember!
Early morning bird walk (IN ENGLISH)
The early bird gets the worm and the early birdwatcher sees the birds. Enjoy the early morning activity of the migrating birds at the pond and visit with the research team at the bird ringing station and meet some of these songbirds up close. Come and experience the wonder of migration! Ages 5+
Feathers and Fur – Afternoon nature walk at the Gazelle Valley Park (IN ENGLISH)
Explore fall at the Gazelle Valley Park. October is a magical time at the Park with many birds migrating to Africa stopping at the park for a rest. We will search for migrating birds and other signs of fall, and of course, we will search for the gazelles who live in the Park. For all ages, no experience needed. Easy walk on paved paths – 1- 2 km.

A Nature Hike of Ein Avdat – A bus trip from Jerusalem (IN ENGLISH)
Get a vulture eye’s view of the spectacular Zin Canyon on this trip to the Negev Desert. We will visit Ben Gurion’s Grave at Sde Boker and search for vultures and other birds of prey who live in the Zin Canyon, before heading down into Ein Avdat Canyon to get some closer views of the majestic Griffon Vultures and learn about the conservations projects to protect these endangered birds. Together we will hike to the top of the canyon and explore the amazing geology on the way. No experience is necessary! Limited spots available – early registration recommended!
