Now, for the first time, the Hyrcania Fortress is opening to the general public and you are invited to take a peek inside one of the most fascinating archaeological gems in Israel. Where kings lived, rebellions took place, treasures were hidden and secret tunnels were built – a groundbreaking archaeological dig is currently underway. Layers of history are being revealed, from the Hasmonean era, through Herod’s palaces to Byzantine monks.
