Yeshiva Break in Gush Etzion
Yeshiva Break in Gush Etzion
The Gush Etzion area is located 15 minutes outside Jerusalem and is rich with history, adventure and fun. The area played an important role in protecting Jerusalem during the ’67 War and today is home to many English speakers.
The area has over 20 fun activities and the Etzion Tourism Board is a great resource for reading about all of them. We can’t list them all but here are our favorites…
Gush Etzion Sound and Light Show – this is a great place to start your tour. Learn about the history of the area and the people who started the yishuvim (communities) and kibbutzim. The tour uses video, 3D models and archaeological remains to tell the story.
Gush Etzion Field School – the field school can help plan tiyulim for you in the area including hiking, natural springs and taking you to beautiful lookouts.
Herodian National Park – see the remains of the palace built by King Herod the Great between 23 and 15 BCE, as a combined palace and powerful fortress. Located near Tekoa.
The Biyar Aqueduct – built by King Herod during the Second Temple Period to supply water to Jerusalem this is a watery, enjoyable hike in an underground tunnel. Bring a flashlight, change of clothes and water shoes. It can be muddy.
Jeeping Scavenger Hunt in Gush Etzion – using your own car or hire a jeep to take you on an adventure of challenges and missions to different spots in the Gush including springs and historic sites.
ATV Gush Etzion – Off roading on an ATV Tour of the hills and valleys in Gush Etzion with an experienced tour guide.
Pat Ba’Melach – Biblical bread workshops at an artisan bread bakery in Rosh Tzurim. Learn to make focaccia, pretzels, sourdough bread and more while learning about the role of bread in Biblical scripture and in Israel.
The Zomet Experience – learn about the process of creating technology that can be used on Shabbat. Have you ever wondered how a Shabbat elevator works? Or a Shabbat Wheelchair? Zomet finds the solutions.
The Workshop Gush Etzion – A real hands on workshop in a wood workshop. Mandy & Jeremy the husband and wife artistic team will guide through the process of making a beautiful piece of art. email@example.com
Chayot Shlomo Exotic Animal Experience – an incredible hands on petting zoo and animal experience. Located in Eastern Gush Etzion. Ask for directions from Jerusalem.
