Wine Temple 1848 Winery Celebration

Wine Temple 1848 Winery Celebration

The Wine Temple is proud to present: wine tasting evening with the 1848 winery in honor of 170 years since the winery was established.

In 1848, with the renewal of the jewish presence in Jerusalem, Yitzchok Galina-Shor opened the first ever winery in the land of Israel in a cellar near the Western Wall. The 1848 winery’s wine received great reputation amongst the jewish community of those times. When the Turkish came to the region, the Shor family were forced to abandon the winery in the old city and relocate it to the Beit-Israel neighborhood in the new city. Since then generations of wine connoisseurs have past through the family and the family’s descendants have renewed the traditions running through the family since 1848.
