Theater in the Rough is thrilled to offer their first ever Shakespeare Camp: a summer intensive Shakespearean theater course for English-speakers.
The three-week course will culminate in an outdoor presentation of Shakespeare’s magical, mischievous, and beloved comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, while emphasizing ensemble work and creative collaboration within a supportive, fun, and age-appropriate learning environment.
About the camp
Shakespeare Camp will be led by Maya Blank (Portia in 2022’s The Merchant of Venice), a theater artist and educator with many years of experience working with kids and teens of all ages, assisted by Yam Drori (co-director of our summer Shakespeare productions), a seasoned director, theater-maker and dramaturg. The artistic team will also include guest teaching artists specializing in Clown, Stage Combat, Music, Voice, and Ecological Costume Design.
Through theater exercises, rehearsals, special workshops, and lectures, participants will become familiar with all aspects of the theater production and will explore tools in text study, physical theater, voice, teamwork, character building, site-specific work, and more.
The camp takes place mostly indoors with outdoor activities, near the Talpiyot Industrial Area, Jerusalem
The program does not include meals or bussing.
