Jerusalem is a great place to vacation in the summer but it’s always great to find some air conditioned activities. Art & food workshops are a great way to entertain kids of all ages.

ART WORKSHOPS

Have you ever wondered what is behind the mitzvah of Mezuzah? Why do Jews all over the world hang one up on every doorpost? At an Uri Kalfa Mezuzah Workshop you will lear about this special Jewish tradition while you make your own mezuzah case. Enjoy the creative hands on workshop in Uri Kalfa’s Studio in Maale Adumim. Yael’s Artesana Hot Glass Fusing Workshop is probably the only place where it’s ok to break glass. Create your own unique piece of glass art – plates, bowls, mezuza and more. Located in Mevo Horon near Modiin or for large groups she can come to you. [email protected]

 

If you prefer to learn to blow glass then Yael Vloch’s Glass Blowing & Flameworking Workshop is for you. Taking place in the Designers Co -op behind First Station, Yael has three torches and guides kids and adults in the art of glass blowing and flamework. [email protected]

Hand building clay workshops are a great place to cool off in the summer with kids and adults of all ages. Grab yourself an ice aroma across the street and then head into Hadara’s Ceramic Studio. Hadara gives you the clay and all the supplies you need to express your own creativity. Learn to mold ceramic clay and to create your own individual piece of art. Pieces are left to dry in the kiln and can then be painted by you or by Hadara. No need to sign up for a workshop – just email her to reserve a time to come in and start at your own pace. Looking for a unique paint your own ceramic experience? You will find Jerusalem and Jewish themed pieces at Jclay a paint your own pottery place in the Geula neighborhood. Open till late at night.
