The Yvel Jewelry Factory and Visitors Center is a great place to visit to learn about jewelry making with pearls & precious stones. In addition to the jewelry factory there is also a jewelry school for Ethiopian immigrants.
A factory tour lasts for 1.5 hours. You will see a video about jewelry making and pearls and then you get to walk past the artists as they work. You will be introduced to the Ethiopian immigrants who are learning the trade of jewelry making and then you will be allowed to roam the factory store.
Visit the new Ethiopian Craft Village – learn about the Ethiopian culture in a replica of a craft village. Read more about it in our interview with Daniel Sahalo, the manager of the Megemaria school, as he describes what it was like to come to Israel on Operation Moses.
Tour Hours: Tours begin at 10:00am and the last tour of the day begins at 2:00pm (at 1:00pm on Fridays)
Yvel is also a beautiful and classy place for a party. The factory store as well as a covered outdoor area are ideal settings for an intimate dinner or a cocktail party. Ask them about their jewelry workshops for parties and the wine tasting tours.
Please Note: with the new construction on route one if you are coming from Jerusalem you will need to exit at Mevaseret and then turn around back on to route one to go back towards Jerusalem and then exit at Motsa.
