Lag Baomer is here and you have probably seen kids around the neighborhood collecting wood, old furniture and about anything that will burn in their "medura".  Saturday night is the time to drive around Jerusalem and see the variety of bonfires. It is particularly impressive in the neighborhood of Har Nof. Each street has a taller bonfire than the next and it is nothing less than a miracle that the forest, near by, does not burn as well.Bonfire

During the day on Sunday there are Lag Baomer parades sponsored by the local Chabad houses throughout the city. Visit our Calendar of Events for exact locations.

We recommend the following activities for entertaining your kids and teens.

  • Lag Baomer Parade and African Circus: 4pm starts at the park on Azza and continues to the Evalina school for a great live show.
  • Snappling: take your family rappelling in Valley Gei Ben Hinom. This is an exciting way to spend 2 hours, overlooking the Old City walls and learning to rappell and rock climb. There will be groups throughout the day. Reservations in advance are required.
  • Jerusalem ATV: Take ride on an All Terrain Vehicle or a Ranger and explore the Jerusalem Hills around the Biblical Zoo, Ein Lavan, and Mitzpe Batir. Drivers must have a license but children ages 7+ can accompany an adult on an ATV and two kids can join an adult on a ranger.
  • Family Jeep Rides: Take your family on a 7 seater jeep in the Jerusalem Hills, Midbar Yehuda or the Forest area near Beit Shemesh.
  • Zoology Pinat Chai: Come and enjoy an afternoon with animals at this Pinat Chai in Baka.

Let the marshmallow roasting and bonfires begin!
