Beit Yellin Tour

History:

On the road to Jerusalem, in the center of the valley of Motza and adjacent to the synagogue of the area, stands the historic Yellin House – the first house built in Motza in 1890.

The house symbolizes the beginning of agricultural settlement in the Land of Israel. It was built by Yehoshua Yellin, the son of David Tabai Yellin, who purchased the land from the Arabs of Kalonia, together with his father-in-law Yehezkel Yehuda in 1860.

In 1890 Joshua built his private home in Motsa. This was the beginning of the agricultural industry and private enterprise in the Land of Israel, when the old Yishuv began to leave the borders of Jerusalem within the walls.

Visitor Center:

Yehoshua Yellin’s private home – a stone structure that underwent extensive renovation and preservation work, today serves as a center for visitors to Motza and the area. The house tells the story of the pioneering Jews & Yellin’s personal vision. It also serves as an information and guidance center for the history of the settlement in Motza and its vicinity and as an educational field center in the fields of agriculture.

You can watch a short video about the Yellin family.
