Beit Guvrin

Beit Guvrin are a set of caves that were used as quarries, burial caves, storerooms, industrial facilities, hideouts, and dovecotes. The area is more than 1200 acres. The high point in Beit Guvrin is Tel Maresha which was a Hellenistic city. You can still see ruins from that time period and learn how the caves were created. The park provides visitors with a map that takes them from cave to cave with explanations of when the caves were discovered. The most well-known cave in the area is the Bell Cave named after its shape.
